GloCal welcomes new UC Davis PI
In July 2021, the GloCal Health Fellowship welcomed Beatriz Martínez López (DVM, MPVM, PhD) as the new UC Davis campus PI for the fellowship. Dr. Martínez López is Professor in the Department of Medicine and Epidemiology and Director of the Center for Animal Disease Modeling and Surveillance (CADMS) at UC Davis. Her research is focused on epidemiological modeling and risk assessment for the evaluation of the potential introduction and/or spread of diseases affecting domestic and/or wild animal populations. Dr. Martínez López mentors many PhD students and postdoctoral scholars and teaches courses for the Master of Preventive Veterinary Medicine, Master of Public Health, Graduate Group of Epidemiology and Graduate Group of Public Health at UC Davis. She also conducts workshops and technology transfer activities related to quantitative epidemiology, risk assessment and modeling to train veterinary services and other public health authorities, including visiting scholars and researchers at CADMS. These activities have strengthened collaborations with different African, South American and Asian countries which has led CADMS to be recognized as a FAO Reference Center for Veterinary Epidemiology. GloCal is very happy to have Dr. Martínez López join our team!
